Who We Are

After hosting retreats for four years for survivors of human trafficking, we decided it was time for our very own space - one that would allow us to serve the incredible women we’ve had the privilege of serving for years, but also our community at large.

This Inn is run with love by Joel & Britt (that’s me!) Jacobson, and you’ll see us around. We live on the property and can’t wait to welcome you to Northern MI.

After traveling the country, summiting mountains together, and visiting 4 continents over the last 10 years, Joel and I share a deep love of the outdoors, and adventure. There’s very little a great hike or a satisfying paddle can’t fix, which is why you’ll find paddle boards and snowshoes to be used while you’re with us - at no extra cost.

We’ve been part of the hospitality industry for a while, leading retreats for the public (and our safe house partners) to places like Banff, Alaska, California, Kentucky, Colorado, and Maine, designing the perfect itinerary for guests to enjoy. We are so excited about this Inn, and the chance to grow some roots for once, sharing one of our very favorite places on earth with incredible guests like YOU!

Joel is a Traverse City native (I married a former Cherry Prince, y’all!), and I graduated from TC West after moving to the TC area in 9th grade. Our family is in NoMI, our heart is in NoMI. We’re just happy to be here. And more importantly, we’re happy you’re thinking about joining us in this space.

Around the property, you’ll also see our goldendoodle, Willow. She’s a nutcase, but the most lovable problem child there ever was. You’ll also meet our amazing daughter, Miya. We adopted Miya out of the foster care system in 2020, and she completes our family in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Also, she’s seriously THE BEST baker. I am gluten-free, and Miya has perfected GF baking, so if you see any GF baked goods at breakfast, they were probably made by her and deserve to be eaten and enjoyed. She even knows a good GF flour blend from a bad one. Which means she’s basically the coolest.

If you have any questions while you’re here, or need any recommendations, let us know! That’s the fun part about running a B&B - we are here, we know the good spots, and can share the local tips. If you came to get away with no interruptions and you don’t wanna be best friends, that’s cool too - we’ll let you enjoy your getaway.

Please know that by you staying with us, you’re allowing us to put on one of 5 weekend getaways focused on whole-body health and wellness for survivors of human trafficking right here in MI - with girls as young as 12 who have experienced sexual exploitation. Your stay is making a difference and we are so grateful.

We can’t wait to meet you!
